Who makes The Memory Palace, and what it is

The Memory Palace is one place where a family's photos, recordings, family tree and stories come together, in a palace with rooms you can walk through. It is made by one person, Bram Nelissen, in Leuven, Belgium.

Who makes it

Bram Nelissen builds The Memory Palace alone, from Leuven. There is no large team and no investor deciding what happens to your family's photographs.

It exists in five languages: English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish.

What it is, and what it is not

Any AI program can restore an old photograph today. Any genealogy program can open a family tree file. You do not need The Memory Palace for that, and we say so.

What only this does: what you find gets a place that stays standing for the people you choose, on your terms. Nothing more is promised. No "forever", no "guaranteed".

What "on your terms" means

  • You choose who: for each person an heir or a trusted contact.
  • You choose what: the whole palace, certain wings or certain rooms.
  • You choose when: on a date, or only after a silence you set yourself, from 3 to 36 months.
  • Nobody decides over your head: you are emailed first, then there are 30 days to reconsider, and a trusted person can stop it.
  • Private until you share: wings and rooms are private by default.
  • You can always leave, with everything: a full export as ZIP, also on the free plan. The family tree comes in and goes out as GEDCOM.
